چکیده
Background: In critical care units, Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is a common device-associated infection in mechanically ventilated patients. Problem gets worst of associated with biofilm producing organism higher antimicrobial resistance. The current study was carried out to observe the pattern resistance, forming capacity isolates causing and other risk factors VAP patients intensive units Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad.
Methodology: 97 total tracheal aspirate culture recovered from 83 diagnosed be suffering as per NHSN definition, admitted various ICUs Karamsad during duration were included study. Relevant clinical history details taken for patient variable like age, gender, co-morbid conditions, indoor days, ventilator final outcome lab based investigations done indicator active or sepsis electronic hospital database available on information system. then tested susceptibility testing by Vitek2compact in-vitro production assay using microtitre plate method. Objective present determine incidence pathogens, infected pathogens. Chi-square test used check relation between categorical variables while t applied case continuous variables. A p value less than 0.05 considered statistically significant.
Results: Out VAP, culture. patients, 42 (49 isolates) found Biofilm producer (BFP) 41 (48 non-producer (BFNP). isolates, most organisms grew Klebsiella pneumoniae (29 isolates), Acinetobacter baumani (28 Pseudomonas aeruginosa (19 apart them lesser number Staphylococcus aureus (6), Escherichia coli (5), Pantoea spp. (2), Serretia marcescens putida (1), Sphingomonas paucimobilis Stenotrophomonas maltophila Enterococcus faecium Candida famata (1) tropicalis (1). resistance compared three major pathogen BFP BFNP i.e. pneumoniae, aeruginosa, which insignificant. Mortality recorded (16.67%) (7.3%) but it not significant (p > 0.05).
Conclusions: Incidence seen 50.51% 49.49% respectively isolates. may influence but, pathogens continue amount cases. Typical acquired strains frequently pathogens.

متن کاملVentilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP)
Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is a pulmonary infection that occurs more than 48 hours after patients have been intubated and received mechanical ventilation. The incidence of VAP ranges from 6 to 52% and can reach 76% in some specific settings [1]. The incidence depends on several factors, the duration of mechanical ventilation, reintubation, supine position, advanced age and altered co...
